Snap-on introduced the MIG225Ai welding machine, designed to help technicians easily weld aluminum and steel. This inverter type wire feed synergistic pulse MIG welding machine has two welding guns, which can realize faster and smoother conversion from steel to aluminum, and the welding current is up to 225A. According to the company, the welder provides technicians with more control, accuracy, and efficiency through shorter setup and post-weld finishing time.
MIG225Ai is equipped with a longer push-pull flashlight to increase accessibility around the vehicle, wheeled walking device, two regulator flow meters, and storage space for two independent gas cylinders. The aluminum torch uses a push-pull design and also includes a fine-tuning current adjustment lever. Using standard steel welding torches, users can weld steel and stainless steel, as well as braze high-strength boron steel.
The preset synergy curve of the device can provide the best control for any welding condition. MIG225Ai automatically sets the wire speed and heat, enabling technicians to weld various materials and thicknesses. For aluminum, the machine presets the synergy curve for welding 5356, 4047 and 5554 aluminum. When welding thinner materials, the dual pulse setting rapidly cycles from low current to high current at 100 times the wire speed per second, thereby reducing spatter and post-weld finishing time.
Optional modes include hot start, ramp time and crater filling options. Hot start ensures sufficient penetration by increasing the current at the beginning of the welding cycle; the slope time controls the amount of time the full current is present; Crater Fill allows the user to fill the weld at the end of the welding, thereby eliminating pinholes.
MIG225Ai also has an easy-to-read LCD display panel that can display all welding parameters, and has a knob for selection and adjustment.
