Commissioner of Parker County promulgated the first phase of fire protection restrictions

In northwestern Wyoming, as Park County continues to get hotter and dry, the risk of intense wildfires is increasing every day. Now, more activities are restricted to ensure the safety of all county residents.

On July 1, the Parker County Commissioner issued their own fire restrictions. Although basically following the same Phase 1 restrictions that are in effect on federal land in northwestern Wyoming, there are some different restrictions.

These penalties are in addition to "the fire-fighting costs and compensation for damages to others that may be caused by the violation of this resolution."

The following persons are not subject to the restrictions imposed in the first stage of restrictions:

In this case, the definition of "unimproved land" refers to farmland, agricultural land and undeveloped land under natural forest or pasture conditions.

In addition, these restrictions do not include areas within the combined town of Parker County or federal land. Cody, Powell, Meeteetse and other places may impose more or less restrictive regulations according to their own wishes.

Most federal land in Park County is already under the first phase of fire protection restrictions. As of July 1, Yellowstone National Park, Shoshone and Bighorn National Forests, and all BLM land are subject to similar restrictions.

The fire supervisor should immediately notify the county committee of any changes in the severity of the fire hazard. The changes may mean more restrictions later this summer.
