The Health and Safety Executive (HSE), released a safety alert highlighting new scientific evidence from the International Agency for Research on Cancer on the 18th February 2019. Since then, Clean Air products have never been more in demand. They are an effective way to prevent damage to a user’s lungs from harmful fumes that are produced throughout the welding process, keeping welders safer than ever before.

For every welder, safety is the main concern which is why welding helmets that create clean air are a key piece of equipment.

Engweld have over 50 years of experience in the welding and engineering industry. In partnership with world welding leader ESAB, Engweld have selected six of the top ESAB Clean Air products on the market, each has its own benefits but all deliver the essential base level of air purifying needed.

Pay close attention to the top of the range, Sentinel A50 which uses high impact resistance nylon, making it highly adjustable and able to give the user unrivalled comfort. This high-tech helmet is controlled through a colour touch screen control pad that makes working in these conditions as safe and precise as possible.

ESAB’s Warrior for air

Next in line for the crown is ESAB’s Warrior tech for air which is available in black and yellow. This helmet uses the latest ADF technology in the lens to give the user the ability to see the smallest details. Some key features of this automatic helmet include its four arc senses for a faster response and wider viewing area, light sensitivity control for welding in darker conditions and a delay control that allows the welder to adjust the lens light for an improved weld.

ESAB’s F20 Clean Air Helmet

ESAB F20 Helmet’s glass viewing screen has a ‘flip up’ function which is protected by a plastic lens that sits in front of the glass to provide protection even when the visor is up. The options don’t stop there, be sure to test out their Changeable DIN lenses which are CE-approved according to EN175.

One of the lower end helmets is the ESAB G30. Just like the F20, the G30 features a flip up front with an inside and outside lens which is changeable. This lightweight helmet provides comfort and protection from UV and IR radiation. If you participate in welding in a less demanding capacity then this is a suitable choice.

ESAB G40 is multifunctional as it has a B rated certification making it suitable for grinding and welding. This easy to use, comfortable helmet features a passive mineral glass, shade levels DIN 10 and flip-up visor. When flipping up the visor the welder has a wide view which can be useful when taking a break or when needing to see surroundings.

Similarly to the ESAB G40, the ESAB G50 Air is rated B for Welding and Grinding but with the addition of an Automatic Darkening Filter (ADF). This removes the need for manual adjusting which can improve productivity and performance. The flip-up visor allows the welder to focus on detail when down and a wider viewing area when flipped up.

ESAB Powered Air Purifying Respirator

All the helmets we’ve covered are compatible with one of Engweld’s highly recommended products the ESAB PAPR (Powered Air Purifying Respirator) unit, which offers heavy-duty protection from fumes and dust from welding, as well as gouging and grinding.

The PAPR unit features the latest in PCB Board technology that allows the user to adjust the levels of airflow to suit the environment of each job that they’ll be working in.

The unit also comes equipped with an audio-visual blockage filter and low battery alarm warnings, all to help provide extra safety for the welder. The strong construction of the unit also makes it extremely tough and durable for all heavy-duty welding applications.

Engweld supply all the spares and consumables for the PAPR unit such as pre-filters, battery, carry bag for the units, harness, hose covers etc. Please note that the 1m version of the PAPR is required for sentinel. However, the 850mm unit is suitable for all other ESAB clean air welding helmets.
