Sweden-based press manufacturer AP&T has designated a business area to furnaces, similar to its business units for presses and automation, to increase customer focus and resources for product development.

The company has manufactured multilayer furnaces since 2010. The foundation of the current product program is its electric multilayer furnace, available in several styles for press hardening and hot forming aluminum. The multilayer design gives the furnace a relatively small footprint on the shop floor. It has few moving parts to reduce the need for maintenance, and production can continue even if one of the furnace layers needs to be shut down. All furnaces are equipped with feeding and unloading automation.

In addition to the multilayer furnace, the press hardening furnace program includes advanced systems for process monitoring. Also included is the company’s TemperBox for partial hardening, which makes it possible to combine soft and hard sections in the same component.
