Anthony F. Sorrentino was born on October 19, 1927, in Brooklyn, New York. He was three months shy of 95 years old when he passed away on July 18, 2022. He had resided in Marlboro, New York, for the past 32 years with his wife of 63 years, Patricia G. (Cicconi) Sorrentino. He was the son of the late Pasquale and Julia Sorrentino, and was raised in Brooklyn, New York. In his youth, he attended music college, where he played the violin and the clarinet, and then the tenor saxophone for the rest of his life. Anthony also trained as a Golden Gloves boxer, in Brooklyn. He served in the United States Army from 1945 through 1947, and worked as a welder for Con Edison from 1948 through his retirement in 1989. He later served in the New York National Guard, with the rank of sergeant.

In 1959, he met Patricia Cicconi, also of Brooklyn, and they were married on November 7, 1959, and after a short courtship. They were inseparable for the next 63 years. They had triplet boys, Anthony, Patrick, and Paul, in 1960, and a daughter, Julie, in 1962. They moved to Staten Island in 1962, and later to Cornwall in 1972. They relocated to their retirement home, a log cabin on a lake with a waterfall, in Marlboro in 1990. Anthony competed several times in the New York State Olympics in the handgun competitions, he was a member of both the Bethlehem Rod & Gun Club, and the Black Rock Fish & Game Club, where, for the latter, he was the captain of the pistol team for many years and won numerous individual and team competitions in both pistol and rifle competitions, and he was a Life Member of the National Rifle Association. Anthony and Patricia attended St. Mary’s Church in Marlboro, and were members of the Marlboro-Milton Senior Citizens.

Anthony is survived by his beautiful wife Patricia, sons Anthony and Paul, daughter Julie, grandsons Anthony, Vincent, and Lorenzo, and a great-granddaughter who is expected in December, brother Charles and his extended family, sister Madeline and her extended family, and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and in-laws, and their families.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the Brooks Funeral Home located at 481 Gidney Avenue in Newburgh, New York. Burial Services, with Military Honors, will be held at The Ulster County Veterans Cemetery at New Paltz Rural Cemetery, on a later date.
